Happy New Year!
Yes, indeed. As I'm writing this, 2011 is well and truly underway, 2010 being long gone (well, if you count 5 days as being 'long'). As far as years go, 2010 wasn't a bad one; full of crap movies (and a couple of good ones), lots of work and more than it's fair share of ups and downs, but nothing terribly memorable; I got a part-time job, stayed in Southampton over the summer, developed stronger friendships with some fellow Anime convention-goers, moved into a flat with my partner (it's great to be out of student halls!), finally got to see a cult classic film that's over 25 years old... really, nothing much at all. It's certainly not one of the most memorable years I've lived by far (likely due to my incredibly bad memory), but it's definitely not the worst. No, nothing can beat 2009 on that front.
Now 2010 is over, it's time to start thinking about how 2011 is going to go; new year's resolutions, really. I'm not really one for resolutions; I think I've gone maybe 3, 4, 5 years without making any, because every time I've tried in the past they've all fallen apart within days; so frequently I've been of the mindset that they're not worth the effort. Nice thought, sure, but they don't often work out too well. This year, though, I have a couple of aims. One of these is everyone's favourite resolution, and one of them that often gets waylaid early on, and that is to lose weight. Especially toward the end of the year, I was eating ridiculous amounts of junk food, so at the very least I'm gonna be eating less of that. Chocolate in particular; having fewer chocolate cravings helps, as long as that doesn't change in the next two weeks everything should be okay...!
I'm also aiming to do more with my time; primarily artwork and gaming. Despite being a creative arts student, I drew very little in 2010, especially in the latter half of the year, which has obviously impacted my work; I'm quite a few weeks behind on an editorial project for my course. I did make a start on a cute 30-day drawing challenge, though so far have only managed one image of five... So, not the best start; but at least it *is* a start, I guess. Gotta focus on the positives.
As far as the gaming thing goes: being a part of TigerTails Radio, a gaming news podcast, I don't really game all that often. I've also purchased a lot of games in the Steam Christmas sales, and there's a few things on XBox Live Arcade and WiiWare that I've been eyeing up, and just now have the money to be able to afford. I also want to branch out some more; as much as I love Touhou, Minecraft, and the Bit.Trip series, I'd love to hear recommendations or things that people have been wanting to try, and I'll review these live on TTR, as well as posting the reviews here and on the Done and Dusted blog. In fact, this offer extends well past computer games into music, films and TV series too; recommend me anything! I'd love to broaden my horizons, even if you don't think I'll enjoy it.
Also, I need to make more cosplays too. Ones that don't look awful; my Cirno cosplay is looking pretty awful at the moment, sadly.
Really, I think that's about everything. Be more motivated, lose weight (poke partner about fixing bike as Halfords are mega-useless). I have high hopes for this year, but we can but wait and see.
